Remarks
One-on-one Rooting is a single-session experience without therapeutic intent. Our aim is to spread awareness about Rooting and gather research funding. For group Rooting sessions or in-person workshops, please follow my IG account where I post all updates!
π
Since summer 2023, Rooting has evolved through three experimental phases, each spanning at least three months. The program has engaged over 20 participantsβincluding university students, artists, helping professions, engineers, mothers in their fifties, and experienced mountaineers. I believe real transformation comes through long-termed practice.
I drew this paininting during Rooting 3.0 sessions.
There was an ah-ha moment when I realized that "Love = Beauty = Compassion", and I felt very touched by it!
π
The philosophy behind Rooting consists of ββ
- Ecopsychology
- Deep Ecology
- Embodiment
- Expressive and Creative Arts Therapy (E-CAT)
- Mindfulness and Compassion-Oriented Integrative Psychotherapy(MCIP)

Hi, I'm Ginn! Exploring nature and humanity is the life path I want to go all the way!
π
- 19 ο½ Through the hiking club, I discovered the mountains and forests. The beauty of nature and kindness of my fellow hikers moved me so deeply that I began capturing these moments through photography, allowing me to stay connected to that eternal beauty even while in the city.
- 20ο½ I hiked so frequently that my college professor asked me, "Are you major in psychology or mountaineering?" At the time, I only knew that nature had taught me far more than school or society ever had. This led me to start writing about my mountain experiences and insights on Medium.
- 21ο½To explore more natural paths, I took a break from my studies to learn about combining nature with psychotherapy. I studied approaches like green care, forest healing, ecopsychology, and adventure therapy. I also interviewed experienced practitioners both locally and internationally, including Dr. Chun-Lin Chen, Chien-Hsi Hsu, New Life Portugal founder Julien Gryp, and Wood Wide Web founder Priscille Cazin. Through this exploration, I began to see clearer possibilities for my future.
- 22ο½I became curious about aboriginal tribes' relationship with mountains and their way of moving through them. This led to an opportunity to join Alishan Tsou hunters, where I helped their association with photography and documentation. Meanwhile, I began co-leading wildland healing workshops with friendsβthese would later evolve into Rooting. I also studied under a Qigong teacher, learning to stretch and sense the flow of Qi in my body.
- 23ο½From my physical experiences in mountains and dance, I began practicing and expressing the language of the body. Leading the "Roots of forest" workshop in summerβwhere we danced under the night sky in a vast grasslandβmarked the debut of Rooting, which has continued ever since.
- 24ο½With a desire to learn more about guiding intention and helping others, I enrolled in Counseling graduate school while continuing to lead Rooting 1.0 and 2.0. The following therapeutic approaches deeply inspired me:
- Body approach Jungian, Embodied Imagination Dreamwork: Jungian analyst Robert Bosnak's insights on silver and moon symbolism in Alchemy deeply resonated with me.
- Dance Movement Therapy: Through 42 intensive days with Dance Therapist Eleanor Dipalma, I learned about bodyfulness and the art of "mirroring."
- Expressive and Creative Arts Therapy: Pat Allen, an art therapy pioneer, explores the unknown through art and playfully addresses contemporary broken narratives. Paolo Knill's poetic approach to art in the human heart particularly moves me.
- Interpersonal Process Therapy: Learning to recognize projection and transference in relationships and respond authentically to present-moment needs.
- Postmodern Social Constructivism: Understanding humans as beings in relationshipβwith others, nature, and their environment.
- Mindfulness Psychotherapy: Observational Self, Compassion, Decentering
- 25ο½During my busy internship, I maintained my painting practice by regularly visiting the studio, eventually creating a small art studio in my room. Building on my previous guiding experience, I developed a three-month project called Rooting 3.0 that combines online and in-person gatherings (check out the photos below!). I'm now planning to develop this into my master's thesis!
This has been my journey of exploring nature and humanity. Looking ahead, I still have much to learn as I continue deepening my roots. I welcome your guidance and suggestions!
